Description

Chilli Name : TRINIDAD BEANS YELLOW
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Trinidad
Chilli Heat : Very Hot (600,000–800,000 SHU)

Trinidad Beans Yellow is a rare Capsicum chinense variety from Trinidad, named for its distinctive bean-shaped pods and vibrant yellow colour when ripe. It’s one of the lesser-known members of the Trinidad superhot family, combining the tropical fruitiness typical of Caribbean chillies with a sharp, fast-building heat that sits just below the extreme level.

Pods are short, wrinkled, and slightly elongated, around 3–4 cm long, ripening from light green to sunny yellow. The flavour is sweet, citrusy, and aromatic, delivering very hot heat in the 600,000–800,000 SHU range — similar to milder 7 Pot or early Scorpion lines. Perfect for Caribbean-style sauces, chutneys, and marinades, where its bright flavour and colour shine through intense heat.

Plants are compact and bushy (70–90 cm tall), producing clusters of pods through late summer. Like most Chinense types, it thrives in warm, humid conditions and benefits from greenhouse growing in cooler climates.

Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in around 110–120 days, producing steadily into early autumn.
