Description

Chilli Name : TRINIDAD SMALL CHERRY
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Trinidad
Chilli Heat : Hot (80,000–120,000 SHU)

Trinidad Small Cherry is a traditional Capsicum chinense variety from Trinidad, named for its round, cherry-like pods and sweet, aromatic flavour. It’s part of the older Caribbean chilli lines that predate many of the modern superhots, offering rich flavour with strong but manageable heat.

Pods are small and round, about 2–3 cm across, ripening from green to bright red. The flavour is sweet, tangy, and slightly smoky, with hot heat around 80,000–120,000 SHU — comparable to a hotter habanero but with a cleaner, fruitier burn. Its balanced heat and aroma make it excellent for sauces, salsas, and Caribbean-style marinades, particularly where traditional Scotch Bonnets are used.

Plants are compact and bushy (60–80 cm tall), producing abundant clusters of pods throughout the summer. Well-suited to greenhouse growing or sheltered outdoor conditions in the UK, it rewards growers with heavy yields and a long harvest window.

Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in around 100–110 days, fruiting steadily through late summer.
