Description

Chilli Name : THAI PUMPKIN YELLOW
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : Thailand
Chilli Heat : Hot (40,000–60,000 SHU)

Thai Pumpkin Yellow is a traditional Thai Capsicum annuum variety known for its small, pumpkin-shaped pods and bright yellow colour at maturity. It’s a beautiful, productive, and intensely flavoured chilli that combines Thai heat with ornamental charm — a popular variety among collectors and cooks who appreciate both form and fire.

Pods are round and slightly ribbed, about 2–3 cm across, ripening from green to golden yellow. The flavour is sharp, citrusy, and slightly sweet, with hot heat around 40,000–60,000 SHU. It’s often used in Thai soups, stir-fries, and fresh sauces, where the small size and bright flavour give a concentrated burst of heat and colour.

Plants are compact and upright (40–70 cm tall), producing dozens of pods in tight clusters. The rich green foliage and bright fruit make it an excellent dual-purpose ornamental and culinary variety, performing well in pots or garden beds.

Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in around 90–100 days, fruiting continuously through the warm months.
