Description
Chilli Name : PURPLE PUMPKIN
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : USA
Chilli Heat : Very Hot
Purple Pumpkin is a striking modern Annuum variety, bred in the USA for its compact growth, vivid colour, and serious heat. It’s named for its distinctive round, pumpkin-shaped pods that ripen through rich shades of violet, orange, and deep red. Though ornamental in beauty, this chilli packs genuine habanero-level fire and tropical fruit flavour.
Pods are small and rounded, about 3–4 cm across, with a ribbed “pumpkin” form and a glossy purple sheen in early ripening stages. They mature to orange-red, revealing a fruity, floral aroma and hot heat around 30,000–40,000 SHU. The pods are thick-walled and juicy, making them ideal for hot sauces, chilli jams, or fresh slicing where both colour and flavour shine.
Plants are compact and bushy (40–60 cm tall), heavily loaded with pods that show multiple colour stages at once — a real showpiece for the garden or greenhouse. Despite its ornamental appearance, it’s a fully edible variety with strong, clean flavour.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants mature in about 100–110 days and yield prolifically through late summer.
