Description
Chilli Name : THAI TQ BLACK
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : Thailand
Chilli Heat : Hot (50,000–70,000 SHU)
Thai TQ Black is a distinctive Thai Capsicum annuum variety bred for its dark foliage, black stems, and deep purple-black pods that ripen through vibrant colour stages to red. Like most true Thai chillies, it combines intense heat with bright, sharp flavour, ideal for both ornamental display and culinary use.
Pods are slender and upright, about 4–6 cm long, turning from glossy black-purple to red when ripe. The flavour is clean, citrusy, and fiery, with hot heat in the 50,000–70,000 SHU range — classic for Thai cuisine. It’s widely used in stir-fries, curries, and infused oils, adding both heat and striking colour.
Plants are compact and upright (40–60 cm tall), producing clusters of pods against rich purple-tinged foliage. The contrast of dark leaves and bright red fruit makes it an excellent ornamental-culinary dual-purpose plant.
Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in about 85–95 days, with heavy fruiting that lasts well into autumn.
