Description
Chilli Name : JALAPEÑO PUMPKIN SPICE
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : USA (New Mexico State University)
Chilli Heat : Medium
Jalapeño Pumpkin Spice is one of the three colour-bred NuMex jalapeños created by the Chile Pepper Institute at New Mexico State University (NMSU), alongside Lemon Spice and Orange Spice. It was bred to capture the traditional jalapeño flavour and mild heat in a unique burnt-orange to bronze colour, reminiscent of autumn spice tones — hence the name.
Pods are thick-walled, smooth, and slightly tapered, growing 7–9 cm long. They ripen from green to deep orange-bronze, developing a complex flavour that’s both smoky and slightly sweet. Heat is hot, typically 20,000–30,000 SHU, giving a solid bite while retaining that classic jalapeño depth. It’s perfect for grilling, salsas, and hot sauces, or drying to make vibrant orange chilli flakes.
Plants are medium-sized (60–80 cm), bushy, and highly productive, producing uniform pods in heavy clusters. As with all NuMex releases, Pumpkin Spice combines high yield, heat stability, and ornamental appeal — a striking and flavourful addition to any grow.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in around 90–100 days and thrive in sunny, warm conditions.
