Smooth White is a rare Capsicum chinense variety bred in the USA, known for its creamy white pods, smooth skin, and fruity heat. It stands out among superhots for its clean, elegant appearance — producing clusters of ghost-like pods with the rich tropical flavour typical of Caribbean Chinense types.
Pods are elongated and slightly curved, around 4–6 cm long, ripening from pale green to ivory-white, then to a light cream tone when fully mature. The flavour is sweet, fruity, and slightly floral, with very hot heat in the 150,000–300,000 SHU range — comparable to a strong Scotch Bonnet or mild Ghost Pepper. It’s ideal for light-coloured sauces, pickles, and powders, where heat and brightness are wanted without the dark pigment of other chillies.
Plants are compact and bushy (60–80 cm tall), producing heavy yields under warm conditions. The pale pods and green foliage make it particularly attractive in mixed plantings.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants mature in around 100–110 days, producing prolifically through late summer.
