Description
Chilli Name : SCORPION CAYENNE
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : USA
Chilli Heat : Hot
Scorpion Cayenne is a modern American Capsicum annuum variety bred as an extra-hot Cayenne type, combining the classic slim shape and drying quality of traditional Cayennes with a sharper, hotter bite. Despite the name, it’s not related to the Trinidad Scorpion line — the “Scorpion” here refers to its fiery sting rather than its species.
Pods are long and thin, around 12–15 cm, ripening from green to bright red with a glossy skin. The flavour is fruity and slightly smoky, followed by a hot, clean burn typically between 40,000–60,000 SHU — hotter than standard Cayennes but still well below superhot levels. Excellent for hot sauces, flakes, and cooking, it offers the traditional Cayenne tang with a little extra punch.
Plants are vigorous and upright (70–90 cm tall), producing high yields through summer. It performs equally well in greenhouse or outdoor settings and dries easily for long-term storage.
Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in around 90–100 days, cropping steadily into autumn.
