Jalapeño Purple is a colourful ornamental-culinary jalapeño that turns heads in the garden and the kitchen alike. Bred in the USA, this variety delivers the full-bodied jalapeño flavour and dependable heat, wrapped in a deep, glossy purple skin that makes it one of the most distinctive members of the family.
Pods are smooth, thick-walled, and plump, growing 7–9 cm long and 3 cm wide. They ripen through dramatic shades of green, deep violet, and finally red, often showing multiple colours on the same plant. Heat is medium–hot, typically 8,000–10,000 SHU, with a crisp, clean burn and subtle sweetness when fully ripe. The pods hold their colour and crunch beautifully when used in salsas, pickles, or on the grill.
Plants are upright and bushy (60–80 cm tall), very productive, and visually striking with dark stems and purple-tinged flowers. They make an ideal culinary–ornamental type, perfect for pots, patios, or greenhouse growing.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in about 90–100 days and continue producing heavy crops through the season.
