Pockmark Peach is a modern American hybrid celebrated for its distinctive pod texture and tropical, fruity flavour. The name comes from its unique dimpled or “pockmarked” surface, which gives the pods a rugged appearance unlike most other Chinense chillies. Despite the intimidating look, it’s prized for its smooth, sweet heat and stunning peach-coloured pods.
Pods are medium-sized, 4–5 cm long, bulbous with rough skin and pronounced dimples, ripening from pale green to soft peach. The flavour is sweet, fruity, and slightly floral, with very hot heat in the 300,000–600,000 SHU range — intense, but not in the superhot class. Perfect for sauces, powders, or salsas, where both flavour and colour shine through.
Plants are strong and upright (80–100 cm tall), highly productive, and adaptable to both greenhouse and outdoor growing in warm climates. It’s a good performer even in shorter UK summers when grown under cover.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants mature in around 110 days and produce consistently through late summer.
