Description
Chilli Name : CAROLINA REAPER PEACH
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : USA (Ed Currie, PuckerButt Pepper Company)
Chilli Heat : Superhot (World Record class)
The Carolina Reaper Peach is a colour variant of the record-breaking Carolina Reaper, originally bred by Ed Currie of the PuckerButt Pepper Company in South Carolina, USA. While the classic red Reaper has Guinness recognition as the hottest chilli in the world, this peach form shares its ferocious heat but with a striking pastel-orange to peach ripening colour.
Pods are knotted and rough-skinned, often showing the classic “stinger tail” caused by the dried flower base restricting pod growth — a trademark of Reaper genetics. They ripen from green through a soft orange to a peach-toned finish. Flavour is fruity and sweet before the inevitable fire kicks in, making it a collector’s favourite.
Plants are compact yet highly productive, growing 80–110 cm tall with heavy pod sets if given a long hot season.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants usually need 100–120 days from sowing to maturity, and do best under greenhouse or polytunnel conditions in cooler climates.
