Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : USA (Texas–Mexico border region)
Chilli Heat : Mild
Frontera Sweet is a modern sweet chilli inspired by the flavours of the Texas–Mexico borderlands — la frontera. While its exact breeding history isn’t fully recorded, it’s recognised among growers as a mild, high-yielding annuum with a flavour profile suited to Tex-Mex and Southwestern cooking.
Pods are medium-sized, smooth and conical, ripening from green to bright red. Heat is mild, often barely noticeable, with a gentle sweetness and crisp flesh that make it ideal for roasting, stuffing, or fresh use.
Plants are compact to medium (60–80 cm), bushy and reliable, producing heavy crops across the summer.
Seeds germinate best at 26–28 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants reach maturity in about 80–90 days, cropping well even in moderate climates.
