Description
Chilli Name : ASTI YELLOW SWEET PEPPER
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : Italy (Asti, Piedmont)
Chilli Heat : None (Sweet)
The Asti Yellow Sweet Pepper is the golden counterpart to the famous Asti Red, originating from Asti in the Piedmont region of Italy. Celebrated for its thick, juicy flesh and vibrant colour, it is a classic heritage variety used widely in Italian cooking for its sweetness and versatility.
Pods are large and blocky, typically 8–12 cm, ripening from green to a bright, glossy yellow. With no heat, they are enjoyed fresh in salads, roasted, grilled, or stuffed, where their sweet, fruity flesh adds both flavour and visual appeal.
Plants are vigorous and productive, usually 60–80 cm tall, producing heavy crops of large pods. As with the red type, staking is often needed to support the weight of fruit.
Seeds germinate best at 25–28 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants take 75–95 days from sowing to harvest and perform well in sunny, warm conditions, rewarding growers with a reliable yield.
