Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : Hungary

The Banana Sweet, also known as Hungarian Sweet Wax, is a traditional Hungarian variety widely grown for its mild, sweet flavour and versatility in the kitchen. Closely related to the hotter Hungarian Wax type, this version has no heat, making it a staple for fresh eating, pickling, and stuffing.
Pods are long and tapering, usually 12–15 cm, with thick flesh and a waxy skin that ripens from pale yellow to orange and finally red. Their sweetness and bright colours make them popular in salads, roasting, grilling, and preserving.
Plants are vigorous and productive, typically 60–80 cm tall, producing steady crops over the summer. Their reliability and generous yields have made them a favourite not only in Hungary but also across Europe and the USA.
Seeds germinate best at 25–28 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants take 70–90 days from sowing to harvest, cropping continuously once pods set.
