Description
Chilli Name : DEVIL’S TONGUE x ORANGE SCORPION
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : USA (modern cross)
Chilli Heat : Superhot
Devil’s Tongue x Orange Scorpion is a modern cross between two powerful chinense varieties — the fruity, pointed Devil’s Tongue (first discovered in Pennsylvania in the 1990s) and the blistering Trinidad Scorpion Orange. The result is a striking hybrid that combines shape, colour, and extreme heat.
Pods are medium-sized, heavily wrinkled and often pointed, showing traits from both parents. They ripen from green to a bold orange, with some pods developing slight tails inherited from the Scorpion line. Heat is superhot, far beyond standard habanero levels, delivering a fierce, lingering burn. Flavour is a mix of fruity and floral, with the sharp punch typical of Scorpion types.
Plants are vigorous, reaching 80–120 cm, branching strongly and producing a high yield of pods across a long season.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, with sprouts appearing in 10–21 days. Plants require 110–120 days from sowing to reach maturity, cropping well under greenhouse or polytunnel conditions in cooler climates.
