Description
Chilli Name : MORUGA SCORPION YELLOW
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Trinidad
Chilli Heat : Superhot
Moruga Scorpion Yellow is a vibrant colour variant of the legendary Trinidad Moruga Scorpion — the chilli that helped redefine the meaning of “superhot.” Originating from the Moruga district in Trinidad, this yellow strain carries the same searing intensity as its red parent but with a brighter, citrus-forward flavour and a striking golden hue.
Pods are thick, deeply wrinkled, and rounded with the signature scorpion tail. They ripen from green to rich yellow, delivering a sweet, tropical aroma and an explosive burn that can exceed 1.5–2 million SHU. Unlike the darker types, Moruga Yellow offers a sharper, more citrusy taste, ideal for fruity hot sauces, powders, and infusions that combine heat with complexity.
Plants are tall and vigorous (90–120 cm), producing strong yields of bright yellow pods. They thrive in warmth and humidity, performing best in greenhouses or tunnels where consistent temperatures bring out their full colour and heat.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants mature in roughly 110–120 days, continuing to crop well into late summer.
