Description
Chilli Name : BORG 9 CHOCOLATE
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : UK (Jon Harper)
Chilli Heat : Superhot
The Borg 9 Chocolate is a superhot bred in the UK by Jon Harper, part of his Borg 9 line, which is itself a cross involving the 7 Pot Bubblegum. The Chocolate strain is one of the most distinctive, with its dark brown pods and brutal heat. It’s a modern breeder’s variety that has earned a reputation among chilli enthusiasts for its combination of unique colour, wrinkled pod form, and searing firepower.
Pods are heavily wrinkled, irregular in shape, and ripen from green to deep chocolate brown. The flavour carries earthy, slightly smoky undertones typical of brown superhots, though the extreme heat overwhelms most subtleties.
Plants are vigorous, reaching 90–120 cm tall, with a strong branching structure and good yields given the right growing season.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants usually take 100–120 days from sowing to maturity, requiring greenhouse or polytunnel conditions in cooler climates to ensure full ripening.
