Peter Pepper Yellow is the bright yellow variant of the legendary Peter Pepper, a southern U.S. heirloom known worldwide for its unmistakable shape and playful reputation. While the novelty draws attention, growers prize it for its excellent flavour, reliable yields, and strong ornamental appeal.
Pods are elongated and wrinkled, 7–10 cm long, curving slightly at the tip and ripening from light green to vivid golden yellow. The flavour is sweet, fruity, and slightly tangy, with a medium–hot burn averaging 20,000–40,000 SHU — lively but not overwhelming. It’s superb for salsas, pickling, or drying, and makes an eye-catching addition to any greenhouse or patio.
Plants are upright and bushy (60–80 cm tall), producing heavy crops of distinctive pods throughout the summer. Like its red relative, it’s both a conversation piece and a genuinely productive chilli.
Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in around 90–100 days and continue to fruit prolifically in warm conditions.
