Description
Chilli Name : AJÍ FANTASY STRIPEY
Chilli Species : Baccatum
Chilli Origin : Finland
Chilli Heat : Mild to Medium
The Ají Fantasy Stripey is one of the most striking colour variations of the Finnish-bred Ají Fantasy line, created by Jukka Fatalii. Like the other Fantasy types, it is a compact, productive baccatum with fruity flavour and mild to medium heat — but this form is instantly recognisable for its striped pods, ripening through bands of yellow, orange, and red.
Pods are lantern-shaped, typically 4–6 cm long, and develop eye-catching streaks of colour as they ripen. This makes them not only useful in the kitchen but also highly ornamental. Their flavour remains fruity and tangy, similar to other Fantasy strains, with gentle heat.
Plants are compact and prolific, usually 60–90 cm tall, producing generous crops across a long season. The unusual striped pods add ornamental appeal in greenhouses or polytunnels, and they perform reliably in cooler climates when given warmth and protection.
Seeds germinate best at 25–28 °C, usually sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants take 90–110 days from sowing to harvest, with steady cropping through late summer and autumn.
