Description
Chilli Name : AJÍ FANTASY ORANGE
Chilli Species : Baccatum
Chilli Origin : Finland
Chilli Heat : Mild to Medium
The Ají Fantasy Orange is a colour variation of the famous Finnish-bred Ají Fantasy, created by Jukka Fatalii. Like the original yellow strain, it was developed in Finland from South American baccatum stock, combining heritage genetics with modern breeding. The Orange form brings the same attractive lantern-shaped pods but with a deep, glowing orange finish.
Pods are small to medium, typically 4–6 cm, with the distinctive Fantasy lantern shape. They ripen from green to a rich orange, carrying mild to medium heat and a fruity, citrus-like flavour. Their colour and form make them a favourite with collectors and growers who enjoy unusual but reliable varieties.
Plants are compact and prolific, usually 60–90 cm tall, producing heavy yields across a long season. Like the base Fantasy, they are well-suited to greenhouse or polytunnel cultivation but will also succeed outdoors in a good UK summer.
Seeds germinate best at 25–28 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants usually take 90–110 days from sowing to harvest, with pods ripening steadily into late summer and autumn.
