The Ají Fantasy Sparkly White is a rare variation of the Finnish-bred Ají Fantasy line, created by Jukka Fatalii. Like its yellow, orange, and peach cousins, it comes from careful breeding in Finland using baccatum genetics, but this form ripens to an unusual pale, almost pearly white. The shimmering effect of the pods has made it a sought-after collector’s variety.
Pods are small to medium, lantern-shaped, typically 4–6 cm long. They ripen from green to a creamy, sparkly white, carrying mild to medium heat with the fruity, citrus-like flavour typical of the Fantasy family. Their colouring makes them a true standout in the garden or greenhouse.
Plants are compact and prolific, usually 60–90 cm tall, producing heavy yields over a long season. They are well-suited to greenhouse or polytunnel cultivation in the UK, but may also thrive outdoors in a warm summer.
Seeds germinate best at 25–28 °C, usually sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants take 90–110 days from sowing to first harvest, with fruits ripening steadily into late summer and autumn.
