Description

Chilli Name : 7 POT CHAGUANAS RED
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Trinidad (Chaguanas region)
Chilli Heat : Superhot

The 7 Pot Chaguanas Red is a local strain from the Chaguanas region of Trinidad, right at the heart of where the 7 Pod family originated. True to its heritage, this chilli delivers the intense fire that made Trinidadian peppers world-famous, while showing subtle differences in pod shape and flavour compared to other 7 Pots.

Pods are usually large and wrinkled, tapering to a slight point, and ripen from green to bright red. The flavour carries a tropical fruitiness with a slightly smoky, earthy undertone, giving sauces and powders a richer edge. As with all 7 Pots, the heat is ferocious — one pod is said to season seven pots of stew.

Plants typically grow 90–120 cm with a dense, branching habit, producing heavy yields in the right conditions. They thrive in warmth and sunlight, making greenhouse or polytunnel growing in the UK the most reliable way to achieve full ripening.

Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, with germination in 10–21 days. Plants usually take 110–130 days from sowing to harvest, with pods ripening late in the summer into early autumn.
