Description
Chilli Name : 7 POT PRIMO YELLOW
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Trinidad – USA
Chilli Heat : Superhot
The 7 Pot Primo Yellow is a blazing variation of the infamous Primo line, developed from Trinidadian 7 Pot stock and bred in the USA. While the original Primo is best known in red and chocolate forms, the yellow strain brings the same searing heat with a bright citrus-fruity flavour that sets it apart.
Pods ripen from green to a vivid yellow, often wrinkled and pointed, with the potential to develop the Primo’s trademark stinger tails. This feature is more common in the Primo line due to genetics that encourage flowers to remain attached longer, but whether a tail forms ultimately depends on growing conditions. When the dried flower restricts the tip of the pod, it forces the chilli to elongate into a distinctive tail.
Plants grow 90–120 cm with a strong, upright habit, producing generous yields of medium to large pods late in the season. The bright yellow fruits bring both colour and fire to the garden, making this variety popular with growers who want something fierce yet different from the more common red strains.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, usually sprouting in 10–21 days. In UK conditions, greenhouse or polytunnel growing is strongly recommended for reliable ripening. Plants typically take 110–130 days from sowing to harvest, with fruits maturing in late summer into autumn.
