Description
Chilli Name : TOOFAN CAYENNE
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : India
Chilli Heat : Hot (35,000–45,000 SHU)
Toofan Cayenne is a true Indian Capsicum annuum variety developed for strong heat, rich flavour, and high yields. The name Toofan means “storm” in Hindi — fitting for a chilli that delivers a swift, powerful burn typical of Indian cayenne types. It’s widely grown in India for drying, powder production, and everyday cooking, valued for its deep red colour and clean heat.
Pods are long, slender, and slightly twisted, around 10–12 cm long, ripening from green to bright scarlet red. The flavour is earthy, slightly fruity, and spicy, with hot heat in the 35,000–45,000 SHU range — making it perfect for curries, sauces, and chilli powders. When dried and ground, it produces a rich red powder with balanced pungency, similar to classic Indian “S4” cayenne strains.
Plants are vigorous and upright (70–100 cm tall), producing abundant pods through summer. The variety is well adapted to hot, dry conditions, showing good tolerance to stress and disease.
Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants mature in around 90–100 days, yielding heavily through the warm months.
