Description

Chilli Name : SUNRISE SCORPION
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Trinidad
Chilli Heat : Very Hot (700,000–800,000 SHU)

Sunrise Scorpion — also known as Trinidad Sunrise Scorpion — is a Capsicum chinense variety from Trinidad, bred for its upright, sunrise-facing pods and brilliant golden-orange colour. It carries the unmistakable Scorpion traits of shape and aroma but delivers slightly lower heat than most modern superhots, making it a popular choice for growers wanting extreme flavour without total devastation.

Pods are short, wrinkled, and tapered with a small stinger, typically 4–5 cm long, ripening from green to deep sunrise orange. The flavour is fruity, sweet, and slightly floral, with a strong, clean burn around 700,000–800,000 SHU — placing it below the Carolina Reaper or Moruga Scorpion but still far above standard habaneros. Excellent for hot sauces, powders, and Caribbean-style marinades, where colour and flavour matter as much as heat.

Plants are upright and bushy (70–100 cm tall), producing clusters of pods that point upward like tiny flames. The combination of bright colour and prolific yield makes it a striking garden variety as well as a sauce-maker’s favourite.

Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in about 110–120 days, fruiting heavily through summer and early autumn.
