Description

Chilli Name : STAR OF TURKEY
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : Turkey
Chilli Heat : Medium (20,000–30,000 SHU)

Star of Turkey is a traditional Turkish Capsicum annuum variety known for its distinctive star-shaped pods and medium, balanced heat. It’s one of the more unusual Turkish chillies, believed to have originated in the Aegean region, where small, decorative chillies are prized for both their culinary and ornamental qualities.

Pods are small and flattened, forming a five-pointed star shape when viewed from the top, about 3–4 cm across. They ripen from green to bright red, developing a sweet, slightly smoky flavour with medium heat around 20,000–30,000 SHU. Ideal for drying, pickling, and display, Star of Turkey adds visual flair to gardens and a clean, peppery bite to dishes.

Plants are compact and bushy (40–60 cm tall), producing hundreds of small pods in dense clusters through the summer. They’re excellent in pots or decorative borders, and the pods dry well for long-term storage or ornamental wreaths.

Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in about 85–95 days, producing continuously until autumn.
