Description
Chilli Name : CO2598
Chilli Species : Baccatum
Chilli Origin : Colombia
Chilli Heat : Mild–Medium
CO2598 is a catalogued accession chilli (the number refers to its germplasm collection ID), originating from Colombia. While not a widely commercialised variety, it represents one of the many landrace baccatum strains collected for preservation and study.
Pods are small to medium, elongated and slightly curved, ripening from green to red. Heat is mild to medium, with the signature fruity, citrusy baccatum flavour that makes it useful for sauces and traditional Colombian cooking.
Plants are tall and upright, often exceeding 1 m, and produce heavy yields across a long season. As with many baccatum varieties, they are strong performers outdoors in warmer climates and under protection in temperate zones.
Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, typically sprouting in 10–21 days. Time to harvest averages around 100–110 days from sowing.
