Oda Pepper is a stunning purple sweet pepper originating from Eastern Europe, believed to have been developed in Poland. It’s grown for its glossy violet pods, rich flavour, and high productivity — a perfect choice for growers seeking both colour and taste. Though technically a sweet pepper, its unique pigment and flavour make it a standout variety for home and market gardens alike.
Pods are medium-sized, blocky and thick-walled, about 8–10 cm long, ripening from deep purple to dark red as they mature. The flavour is sweet, crisp, and juicy, with no heat at all. The purple stage offers a milder, slightly smoky note, while the fully red pods develop a classic bell sweetness. Perfect for fresh salads, roasting, grilling, or stuffing.
Plants are compact and productive (50–70 cm tall), thriving in both greenhouses and sunny outdoor beds. The dark foliage complements the purple pods, making it as ornamental as it is edible.
Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants mature in about 80–90 days, producing continuously through summer.
