Chilli Origin : Germany
Chilli Heat : Mild–Medium
Krebs Elegance is a decorative yet fully edible chilli variety bred by German grower Klaus Krebs, known for creating elegant and compact ornamental types with exceptional symmetry and colour variation. True to its name, this plant combines refined looks with a pleasant, moderate kick — ideal for those who appreciate form and function in equal measure.
Pods are small and slender, around 3–4 cm long, ripening through a beautiful colour sequence from cream to lilac, orange, and finally deep red. The flavour is fresh and mildly fruity, carrying mild–medium heat around 5,000–8,000 SHU. While bred primarily for its striking appearance, the pods are perfectly usable in the kitchen — particularly in fresh salsas, garnishes, or decorative pickles.
Plants are compact and bushy (30–45 cm tall), forming neat mounds of foliage covered in multi-coloured pods at various stages of ripeness. This makes Krebs Elegance ideal for pots, patios, or ornamental displays, yet still productive enough for culinary use.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants mature in about 90 days, producing vibrant colour displays right through summer and into early autumn
