Jalapeño Macho Nacho is a modern American hybrid jalapeño, bred for flavour, size, and high yield. It’s one of the biggest and most productive jalapeño types available, designed to give that authentic Tex-Mex heat with improved thickness and crunch — the perfect chilli for grilling, stuffing, or slicing for nachos.
Pods are large and heavy, 9–11 cm long and up to 3.5 cm thick, ripening from deep green to bright red. The flesh is thick-walled, crisp, and full of moisture, giving excellent flavour retention when cooked. Heat is medium–hot, around 10,000–12,000 SHU, with a rounded flavour and subtle sweetness that makes it extremely versatile.
Plants are tall (80–100 cm), vigorous, and prolific, producing impressive yields throughout the growing season. This variety was bred to outperform standard jalapeños in both pod size and production, making it a favourite among home growers and small-scale farmers alike.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants mature in about 90–100 days, delivering heavy crops well into autumn.
