Description
Chilli Name : HOT RAINBOW
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : USA
Chilli Heat : Mild–Medium
Hot Rainbow is a colour-changing ornamental chilli that earns its name from the vivid display of colours it produces as the pods ripen — a living gradient of green, purple, yellow, orange, and red. Originally bred in the USA, it’s grown worldwide for its decorative beauty and gentle, usable heat.
Pods are small, upright, and cone-shaped, about 2–3 cm long, maturing through multiple colours on the same plant at once — creating the full “rainbow” effect. Heat is mild to medium, generally 10,000–20,000 SHU, enough to give flavour without overwhelming dishes. While designed as an ornamental, the pods are fully edible and often used fresh in salads or dried for colourful flakes.
Plants are compact and bushy (25–35 cm tall), covered in pods from top to base, making them ideal for pots, windowsills, and garden borders. The dense foliage and multi-coloured fruit make them a true ornamental–culinary hybrid.
Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants mature in around 85–95 days and keep producing continuously through the season.
