Habanero West Indian Yellow is a true Trinidadian habanero, one of the most established and widely grown chillies across the island. Known for its intense tropical aroma and fierce heat, it remains a cornerstone of Trinidadian cooking, used in pepper sauces, chutneys, and marinades.
Pods are lantern-shaped, smooth and slightly ribbed, ripening from green to rich golden yellow. Heat is very hot, usually 300,000–400,000 SHU, delivering an immediate burn balanced by a bright fruity flavour with hints of mango and citrus — a defining characteristic of Trinidadian chinense types.
Plants grow 70–90 cm tall, bushy and heavy cropping, producing abundant pods through long, warm seasons.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants take 100–110 days to reach maturity, rewarding growers with strong, consistent yields.
