Description
Chilli Name : HABANERO YUCATÁN
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Mexico (Yucatán Peninsula)
Chilli Heat : Very Hot
Habanero Yucatán is the original habanero from the Yucatán Peninsula, the birthplace of many modern habanero strains. It remains one of the purest examples of the classic Mexican chinense — intensely hot, fruity, and aromatic, forming the backbone of local Yucatecan cuisine.
Pods are small to medium-sized, lantern-shaped and slightly wrinkled, ripening from green to rich orange. Heat is very hot, typically 300,000–400,000 SHU, with a clean, tropical-citrus flavour that defines the true habanero character. It’s the key chilli used in traditional Yucatecan salsas, pickled condiments, and marinades.
Plants are medium-sized (70–90 cm), branching freely and producing heavy yields of pods across long warm seasons.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in about 100–110 days, cropping continuously in full sun or protected environments.
