Habanero Red is the classic Caribbean habanero, cultivated for centuries across the islands — especially in Cuba, Jamaica, and Trinidad — where it’s used in fiery sauces and marinades. It’s one of the defining chillies of Caribbean cooking, offering intense heat and bold fruity flavour.
Pods are lantern-shaped, 4–6 cm long, ripening from green to deep red. Heat is very hot, typically around 300,000–450,000 SHU, with a fast-building burn and tropical fruit character that balances spice with sweetness. It’s a cornerstone of Caribbean hot sauces and jerk seasoning.
Plants are medium-sized (70–90 cm), branching freely and producing abundant crops of uniform pods through the summer.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in about 100–110 days and thrive in warm, sunny climates or under glass in cooler regions.
