Description
Chilli Name : EXPLOSIVE EMBER
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : USA (modern ornamental breeding)
Chilli Heat : Mild–Medium
Explosive Ember is a modern ornamental chilli bred in the USA, designed to combine beauty with usability. It is one of the most striking ornamental varieties, grown as much for display as for eating.
Plants are compact and bushy, rarely exceeding 30–40 cm, making them ideal for pots, borders, or indoor growing. They produce masses of small, upright pods that change through a vivid rainbow of colours — purple, orange, and finally red.
Despite being ornamental, the pods are fully edible, carrying a mild to medium heat with a crisp annuum flavour. While not as complex as heritage cooking chillies, they can be used fresh or dried if desired.
Seeds germinate best at 26–28 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants mature in 85–95 days, and their long-lasting colour displays make them popular for decorative use through the season.
