Carbourga Red is a rare chinense superhot, part of the Carbourga line known for its distinctive pod forms and blistering heat. While the exact breeding background is unclear, it is linked to South American chinense types and has become a valued collector’s variety.
Pods are gnarled, wrinkled, and irregular, ripening from green to a bold deep red. Heat is in the superhot range, with a sharp, fruity chinense flavour beneath the fire.
Plants are vigorous, typically reaching 90–120 cm tall, producing strongly throughout a long, hot growing season.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants generally need 100–120 days from sowing to harvest, with greenhouse or polytunnel growing recommended in cooler climates.
