Description
Chilli Name : BRAZILIAN RED OLIVE
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Brazil
Chilli Heat : Hot
The Brazilian Red Olive is a chinense variety from Brazil, named for its pod shape, which resembles small olives. Its unusual form and bright red ripening colour make it stand out among Brazilian heritage chillies, which often carry distinctive shapes tied to their names.
Pods are oval and smooth, around 2–3 cm long, ripening from green to deep red. Heat is in the hot range, with a fruity chinense flavour that balances well in sauces, salsas, or fresh use.
Plants are medium-sized, usually 70–100 cm tall, branching well and producing generous clusters of olive-shaped pods throughout the summer season.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in around 90–110 days from sowing, cropping steadily once established.
