Description
Chilli Name : BIQUINHO YELLOW
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Brazil
Chilli Heat : Mild
The Biquinho Yellow is the golden counterpart to the famous Brazilian Biquinho Red, another member of the “little beak” chinense family. Like the red type, it is prized across Brazil for its mild flavour and unique teardrop shape, traditionally preserved in vinegar and enjoyed as a table accompaniment.
Pods are small and teardrop-shaped with the pointed beak at the tip, typically 2–3 cm long, ripening to a bright yellow. Their flavour is sweet and tangy with just the faintest hint of heat, making them accessible to those who enjoy the flavour of chillies without the burn.
Plants are compact and highly productive, usually 50–70 cm tall, producing heavy yields of pods that ripen steadily over the season. Their bright yellow fruits make them as ornamental as they are culinary.
Seeds germinate best at 25–28 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants take 90–110 days from sowing to harvest and will crop well under greenhouse, polytunnel, or sunny outdoor conditions.
