Description
Chilli Name : 7 POT BUBBLEGUM x NAGA APRICOT
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Trinidad – USA – India
Chilli Heat : Superhot
The 7 Pot Bubblegum x Naga Apricot is a striking hybrid that combines two powerhouse bloodlines. From the Trinidadian 7 Pod family comes the explosive heat and fruity depth, while the Bubblegum line developed in the USA adds the famous “bleeding calyx” trait. Crossing with the Naga Apricot, a chilli rooted in India, brings additional fruitiness, floral notes, and sometimes slightly smoother pod shapes.
This hybrid is still relatively rare, prized by collectors and growers for its unusual appearance and complex flavour. Pods often ripen to an apricot-orange shade, with the colour bleeding into the stem just like the original Bubblegum types. Expect fierce, lingering heat that easily qualifies as superhot.
Plants typically grow 90–120 cm tall with a bushy habit. Pods are knobbly, irregular, and medium-sized, ripening from green through orange-apricot tones. The bleeding calyx is not always consistent but often appears, making the variety stand out visually.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, with germination taking 10–21 days. In the UK, greenhouse or polytunnel growing is strongly recommended for ripening. Plants usually take around 110–130 days from sowing to harvest, with pods maturing later in the season.
