Description

Chilli Name : NAGA VIPER
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : United Kingdom
Chilli Heat : Superhot

Naga Viper is a British-bred superhot chilli, once crowned the hottest chilli in the world (2011). Created by breeder Gerald Fowler of The Chilli Pepper Company in Cumbria, it’s an unstable hybrid combining three legendary varieties — Naga Morich, Bhut Jolokia, and Trinidad Scorpion. The result is a chilli with intense heat, wicked flavour, and a pedigree that helped cement the UK’s place in the global superhot scene.

Pods are medium-sized, rough and pointed, around 5–7 cm long, ripening from green to bright red. The flavour is floral, fruity and slightly smoky, quickly followed by a deep, relentless burn that can exceed 1,300,000 SHU. The heat is complex and long-lasting, spreading slowly before engulfing the senses — ideal for extreme sauces, powders, and heat challenges.

Plants are strong and upright (90–120 cm tall), producing heavy yields of fiery pods. Like most Chinense hybrids, they thrive under greenhouse or polytunnel conditions where warmth and humidity allow full pod development.

Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants take around 110–120 days to reach maturity and crop steadily through summer.
