Thai Sun is a compact ornamental chilli variety derived from traditional Thai types, widely grown for its upright fruiting habit and strong visual appeal. It is a recognised cultivar often used in both decorative planting and culinary applications.
Pods are small, slender, and grow upright in dense clusters above the foliage. They mature through a striking sequence of colours, typically from green to yellow, orange, and finally bright red. The fruits are thin-walled and well suited to drying as well as fresh use.
Flavour is sharp and clean with a pronounced heat. Heat levels are commonly reported in the range of 30,000–50,000 SHU, placing it in the Hot category. It is suitable for use in stir-fries, sauces, and drying.
Plants are compact, bushy, and highly productive, typically reaching around 30–45 cm in height. They are well suited to container growing, patio displays, and small garden spaces, producing a long-lasting and colourful fruit display.
