Description

Chilli Name: THAI RED
Chilli Species: Annuum
Chilli Origin: Thailand
Chilli Heat: Hot

Thai Red is a widely recognised Thai chilli type, representing the mature red stage of traditional small-fruited Thai peppers. It is a staple in Southeast Asian cuisine, valued for its heat, colour, and versatility in cooking.

Pods are small, slender, and typically borne upright to semi-upright on the plant. They mature from green to bright red, with thin walls that make them well suited for both fresh use and drying.

Flavour is sharp and clean with a pronounced heat. Typical heat levels range from 50,000–100,000 SHU, placing it in the Hot category. These chillies are commonly used in curries, stir-fries, sauces, and dried spice preparations.

Plants are compact to medium-sized and highly productive, producing large numbers of pods over a long growing season. They perform well in warm climates and are suitable for container growing as well as open-ground cultivation.

Thai Red represents a broad, traditional chilli type rather than a single standardised cultivar. It is deeply embedded in Thai agriculture and cuisine, with many local strains sharing similar characteristics.

Germination temperature 28–30 °C. See our Water and Feed Guides for advise.
Chilli Seeds Qty is 5 per pack unless stated.
