Description
Chilli Name: THAI GIANT
Chilli Species: Annuum
Chilli Origin: Thailand
Chilli Heat: Medium
The Thai Giant is a large-fruited sweet pepper variety originating from Thailand, grown for its size, productivity, and mild flavour. It represents a regional type selected for producing larger pods than typical Thai chillies.
Pods are long, broad, and slightly tapered, often reaching 15–20 cm in length. They mature from green to red and have relatively thick walls, making them suitable for stuffing, slicing, and cooking.
Flavour is mild and slightly sweet with little to no heat, typically falling within the 0–500 SHU range, placing it in the Mild category. The flesh is crisp when fresh and softens well when cooked, making it versatile for a range of culinary uses.
Plants are vigorous and productive, producing a good yield of large fruits over the growing season. They perform best in warm conditions and benefit from support due to the size and weight of the pods.
This variety reflects Thai selection for larger, milder peppers used in cooking, contrasting with the smaller, hotter chillies more commonly associated with the region. It is valued for both its yield and culinary flexibility.
Germination temperature 28–30 °C. See our Water and Feed Guides for advise.
