Description
Chilli Name: SIBERIAN INDOOR PEPPER
Chilli Species: Annuum
Chilli Origin: Russia
Chilli Heat: Medium
Siberian Indoor Pepper, also known as the Siberian House Pepper, is a compact and hardy annuum variety developed for cooler climates and indoor growing. Unlike most chillies, it tolerates lower light levels and thrives on windowsills or in small pots, making it a perfect choice for home growers seeking reliable, year-round fruiting.
The plants are small and bushy yet highly productive, producing numerous thin-walled pods that ripen from green to bright red. The fruits are typically small, slender, and evenly shaped, adding both colour and vibrancy to indoor spaces. Despite its compact size, this variety delivers impressive yields throughout the season.
Flavour is fruity and slightly smoky with a pleasant, warming heat. At around 5 000–15 000 SHU, it sits in the Medium category, offering balanced spice for general cooking without overwhelming dishes. The pods are excellent fresh, dried, or pickled, and make a versatile addition to sauces and everyday meals.
The Siberian Indoor Pepper is unusually adaptable, growing well in partial light but producing best when placed in bright, sunny conditions. It tolerates cooler indoor temperatures, can be overwintered as a perennial, and continues to produce fruit for several years when properly cared for.
Well suited to small pots, this chilli is ideal for urban gardeners, indoor growers, and anyone wanting a dependable, easy-care plant that adds colour and flavour all year round.
Germination temperature 28–30 °C. See our Water and Feed Guides for advise.
