Description

Chilli Name : PETE’S NAGA
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : India – United Kingdom
Chilli Heat : Superhot (800,000–1,000,000 SHU)

Pete’s Naga is a true Capsicum chinense Naga Bhut Jolokia, imported from India and introduced to the UK by Peter Seymour (Chilli Pepper Pete) — the same man who played a key role in the Naga’s global rise. His pioneering imports and early grows in Dorset led directly to the creation of the legendary Dorset Naga, which went on to hold the world record for hottest chilli.

Pods are rough and pointed, around 5–7 cm long, ripening from green to deep red. The flavour is fruity, smoky, and complex, with superhot heat typically around 800,000–1,000,000 SHU. Though not the record-breaking Dorset line, Pete’s Naga represents the original Indian Bhut Jolokia that started the modern superhot era.

Plants are tall and productive (80–100 cm), performing best under greenhouse conditions in warm climates. The pods dry well for flakes and powders, and their flavour remains one of the most distinct among superhots — rich, earthy, and unmistakably Naga.

Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days, and mature in about 110–120 days.
