Description

Chilli Name : OROZCO HEIRLOOM
Chilli Species : Annuum
Chilli Origin : Mexico
Chilli Heat : Hot

Orozco Heirloom is a traditional Mexican chilli celebrated for its vivid foliage, striking multicoloured pods, and strong heat. Often described as both ornamental and culinary, it’s an heirloom variety passed down through growers in Mexico’s Orozco region. Its fiery pods and colourful growth habit make it as beautiful as it is bold.

Plants are compact and bushy (50–70 cm tall) with dark green leaves tinged with purple and silver variegation, creating a dramatic contrast to the pods. Fruits are slender and upright, 4–6 cm long, ripening through purple, orange, and finally red, often showing multiple colours at once.

The flavour is hot, slightly smoky, and peppery, with heat levels around 40,000–60,000 SHU — lively without being overwhelming. The pods are thin-walled and quick-drying, ideal for fresh use, pickling, or dried flakes.

Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants mature in about 90–100 days and continue producing prolifically through summer.
