Description

Chilli Name : NAGA BHUT JOLOKIA
Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : India (Assam, Nagaland)
Chilli Heat : Superhot

Naga Bhut Jolokia — better known worldwide as the Ghost Pepper — is one of the most iconic chillies ever grown. Native to the northeastern states of Assam and Nagaland, it became the first chilli to be officially measured at over 1 million Scoville Heat Units, earning a place in history as the chilli that redefined what “hot” really meant.

Pods are long, thin and heavily wrinkled, averaging 6–8 cm in length, ripening from light green to deep red. The flavour is fruity, slightly smoky, and floral, followed by a fierce, deep burn that builds slowly before consuming the palate. The heat can range from 800,000 to 1,200,000 SHU, and the burn is long-lasting — ideal for superhot sauces, powders, or chilli oils where bold flavour and serious fire are required.

Plants are tall and bushy (90–120 cm), with excellent yields in warm, humid conditions. As a native of the humid Assam region, it thrives under protection in UK climates, rewarding patient growers with authentic Naga heat and aroma.

Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in about 110–120 days and crop continuously once established.
