Golden Crystal is a beautiful baccatum variety known for its translucent golden pods that almost seem to glow in the light. It’s believed to have originated in the Andean region of South America, where baccatum chillies have long been cultivated for their fruity, tangy character.
Pods are small to medium-sized, smooth and slightly conical, ripening from light green to a clear golden-yellow. Heat is medium, offering a crisp, citrus-like bite with mild sweetness — perfect for sauces, salsas and fresh use.
Plants are tall and upright (1–1.2 m), producing heavy crops throughout summer. The white-yellow spotted flowers mark it clearly as a member of the baccatum species.
Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in 100–110 days and continue producing well into late summer.
