Description
Chilli Name : GOLD CONE
Chilli Species : Baccatum
Chilli Origin : South America (likely Peru)
Chilli Heat : Medium
Gold Cone is a baccatum variety recognised for its distinctive cone-shaped golden pods and crisp, fruity flavour. It likely originates from the Andean region of South America, where baccatum chillies have been cultivated for centuries as part of local food traditions.
Pods are small to medium, tapered and slightly flared at the base, ripening from pale green to bright golden yellow. Heat is medium, offering the typical fruity-citrus tone of baccatum types, making it excellent for sauces, pickling, or drying for flakes.
Plants are tall and upright, often exceeding 1 m, with white flowers marked by yellow spots — a defining feature of the species. They are very productive and continue cropping through late summer.
Seeds germinate best at 26–30 °C, sprouting in 10–21 days. Plants mature in about 100–110 days, thriving in both open ground and large pots.
