Chilli Species : Chinense
Chilli Origin : Modern breeder strain (USA)
Chilli Heat : Superhot
Devil’s Brain Chocolate is a superhot chinense variety, bred as a darker-coloured strain of the “Brain” family of chillies, named for their deeply wrinkled, brain-like pod surface. The chocolate-brown version combines the notorious look of the Brain strains with a rare and striking colour.
Pods are medium-sized, gnarled, and heavily wrinkled, ripening from green to a deep chocolate-brown. Heat is superhot, capable of reaching well into the upper Scoville ranges, delivering a fierce, long-lasting burn. Flavour is fruity and earthy, with the typical bitterness often present in darker-podded chillies.
Plants are medium to tall (80–120 cm), vigorous and branching, with reliable pod set when grown under long warm conditions.
Seeds germinate best at 28–30 °C, sprouting within 10–21 days. Plants need around 110–120 days from sowing to maturity, with cropping through summer and early autumn.
